"BEAUTY & THE BEAST" Part 16 Michael Blackson & Carolina Catalino
Almost every woman - and more than one man - has a well-established personal beauty regimen. There is so much useful advice available in the field that the odds are very good that a few quick tips can significantly improve the effectiveness of a beauty routine. Here are some tips:
If winter weather has your complexion looking dry and dull, brighten your skin with a mixture of your normal foundation or moisturizer with a luminescent liquid or cream highlighter. Opt for a rich, subtle cream with micronized minerals or a pearly or opalescent dose of shimmer. Apply to the brow bones, cheeks, and collarbones.
If you have naturally pale skin, having a healthy glow can be a problem. A lot of makeup is not required to have a great looking skin glow. For the most natural-looking results, use a glow product around the hair line, the chin, the apple areas of your cheeks and the bridge of the nose.
To help you pluck your eyebrows, you want to hold the tweezers in a vertical position against the side of your nose. You then move the tweezers along your eyebrows, and you will see very easily where your arch should start and stop. This will ensure that you stay with the natural shape of your eyebrows.
If you are having problems keeping your lipstick from feathering and bleeding, try this trick: As you apply your foundation, base, or tinted moisturizer to your face, cover your lips in a thin layer of the product as well. This will serve as a sort of primer on which your lipstick can bind and remain steadfast.
Don't think you need to cut off your hair every time you're bored with its style. Sometimes it's easy to lack imagination when faced with hair that has outgrown its former style. One easy trick to try is to part it in different ways. You may be shocked how much you like it.
If you have natural plum lips, it is unnecessary to wear lipstick. It will just take away from the unique feature that your lips already have. If you still insist on using lipstick, stick with a color that is a darker pink, and use a fine brush to apply a thin coat.
If you are fighting an irritating, itchy and flaky scalp, you can use yogurt to remove flakes and keep your scalp itch-free. Simply massage a plain Greek or dairy yogurt into your scalp, then allow it to sit for no longer than 15 minutes. After you rinse, you should notice less flakes and itching.
Help reduce the appearance of the dark shadows and bags around your eyes by giving yourself a bit of a massage. Use some good moisturizer on your fingertips and massage around the eye area. It assists with lymphatic drainage around your eyes and will reduce the appearance of the damage.
If you get caught out in the cold with excessively dry or flaky skin but do not have body lotion or hand cream available to you, consider applying a small amount of hair conditioner. You can use it to add moisture to your hands, elbows, feet, and knees - but never on your face.
Keep the back of your head top priority when styling your hair. This area is harder to style and if you're tired once you get around to that area it can ruin your whole look.
Paint your toenails before you go to bed. Make sure you have given your nail polish plenty of time to dry before going to bed. When you shower in the morning you can easily peel off any excess polish that you get on your toes for that perfect manicured look.
Is your face tired looking? Does it need some radiance? With just the swirl of a brush you can instantly brighten up your skin. Illuminating powder is an amazing product that will wake up your skin. Apply it to your face, on the cheekbones, temples, on the chin and under your eye brows. You can wear this alone or over foundation.
Filing your nails is a wonderful way of making them look healthy. When filing, it is important to only go in one direction. Doing this will make sure that you don't get any breakage from causing stress to your nails. You also won't have to deal with any hang nails that can snag.
If you have grey hair dyed dark, and your roots are beginning to show, try putting the same color mascara as your dyed hair. If your hair is dyed a lighter color such as blond, spray some hairspray on the roots and use a bit of bronze or gold-colored eyeshadow. Or, you can try one of the root color-combs available at local beauty supply stores.
If you have ever gone too far when plucking your eyebrows to where you can't see you had any, there is a solution. You will first want to select an eyebrow pencil that blends with your brow color. Remember to fill the entire brow with the pencil and not just the bald spots using the fill, fix, feather technique.
To get softer and sexier lips use a honey scrub! Take 3 drops of honey, and mix it with half a teaspoon of sugar. Apply the mixture liberally to your lips, and let it sit for about 10 minutes. When you wash it off, you'll find your lips have gotten softer and may even look fuller.
Spray a light mist over your face after your make-up is complete to improve the overall longevity of your cosmetics. You can use this tip both in situations calling for endurance and in those when you have taken extra pains on your make-up. A misting will preserve your efforts and give you a few extra hours of perfection.
Don't wash your hair everyday. While many people are in the practice of washing their hair everyday in the shower, the truth is that everyday hair washing is just not necessary. More than that, it can strip your hair of essential oils that keep it from looking dry and lifeless. Wash every other day to keep your hair looking its best.
The eyeshadow you use should depend on your eye color. By picking the wrong color, your eyes will not stand out. For example, those with blue and green eyes should pick shades that are warm in color such as light purples, brown, and gray. Women with brown eyes should wear darker shades, like dark greens and blues.
Use hydrogen peroxide to cure yellowed nails. Nothing is beautiful about yellowing nails. To fix this problem, soak cotton in peroxide and then wipe each nail for several strokes. Let it sit on your nails for a few minutes. Rinse your nails, and admire the lack of yellow coloring.
Exfoliate your face and neck at least 2 times a week. Exfoliating helps remove dead skin cells and bring new skin cells to the surface. This will make you look healthy and refreshed when you do this, but you should avoid doing it too much because it can irritate your face.
You do not need to spend a lot of money on a fancy deep conditioning mask. There are many recipes you can make at home that include foods filled with nutrients that are great for your hair. A great one includes mashed strawberries and enough mayonnaise to make a spreadable paste. Leave it in your wet hair for 10 minutes and rinse.
When you don't have time to wash your hair, you can use a dry shampoo to perk up your limping locks. Use a round brush when you blow-dry your roots to create volume. The dry shampoo and the natural oils in your hair will work together to produce a thickening effect.
The processes, techniques and products that make up a personalized beauty regimen need not be expensive or time-consuming. Even though satisfactory beauty results depend on hard work, working smarter can save a lot of time. Tips like the ones above might be valuable keys to getting better results with less effort.
